This is a question I come back to often, not just as someone who works in wellness travel, but as a woman who deeply values her own health and growth.
For me, wellness isn’t something that happens in the background. It’s not a luxury, or a reward. It’s a conscious choice. A daily gift. A commitment I make to myself, over and over again.
Wellness, to me, starts with emotional happiness.
That quiet feeling of contentment that sits beneath the surface, even on the harder days. It’s knowing that I’ve carved out space for myself, not because everything is perfect, but because I matter.
It’s about putting myself first, gently but deliberately, so that I can walk the talk. I believe that when we prioritise our wellness, we honour our truth. We live with more clarity, more energy, and more alignment.
Balance isn’t always perfect – but it’s essential
I’m always working on staying mentally, emotionally and spiritually balanced. These pillars of wellness are deeply connected, and when one slips out of rhythm, I feel it. Whether it shows up as restlessness, fatigue, or overwhelm – I’ve learnt to pay attention.
Wellness is knowing when to stop.
To rest.
To breathe.
To reflect.
Creating space to pause, even just for a moment is one of the most powerful acts of self-care I know.
Movement, nourishment and meaning
I move my body not because I “should”, but because I love it.
Walking clears my mind. Yoga connects me back to breath. Pilates builds strength. And the gym reminds me of what my body is capable of.
In the kitchen, I aim for organic, plant-based food as much as I can. I love cooking and try to cook with intention aiming to nourish my body as best I can.
And I never stop learning. Growth, for me, is wellness. Whether it’s a course, a book, a conversation, or simply a new way of seeing something, learning helps me feel alive.
Spirit, connection and curiosity
More than anything, developing my spiritual self supports every other part of my wellbeing. When I feel spiritually fulfilled, through meditation, time in nature, or stillness. I feel grounded, resilient, and open-hearted.
Friendship and community are also non-negotiable.
Without them, wellness can feel lonely. I treasure the people who walk beside me, and I lean into the connections that make this life feel rich and real.
And finally, I stay curious.
Curious about new ways to support my health. New practices. New destinations. I believe wellness isn’t a destination – it’s a journey that changes as we do.
What does wellness mean to you?
Your version might look different to mine and that’s the beauty of it.
Whether it’s sleep, solitude, movement, food, ritual or rest, your wellness is personal. It deserves to be tended to with care and kindness.
At Spencer Travel Wellness, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all healing.
We believe in listening to your body, your spirit, and your needs, then finding the destination or retreat that supports exactly that.
So let me ask again…
What does wellness mean to you?
And are you ready to gift it the space it deserves?
Ready to explore your own wellness path?
Let’s find the place that meets you where you are.
